Top Ten Tuesday (March 7, 2016): Problematic Faves That I Love To Hate

1

Happy Tuesday!

Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s topic is a Ten Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don’t Get or Ten Characters I LOVE But Others Seem To Dislike. I apologize in advance for throwing shade at any BAEs. Actually, NO! This is going to be therapeutic for me because I get to ream the hell out of some characters *insert evil laughter!*.

Let’s begin!

TYPE DESIGN (5)

DORIAN HAVILLIARD (THRONE OF GLASS by SARAH J. MAAS)

I have never been a fan of Dorian’s. I just never connected with his character and I just wanted to throw daggers at him while I was reading Throne of Glass. Also, can someone explain WHY Celaena and Dorian would make a good couple to me? They have NO CHEMISTRY. Their friendship, for the most part, is platonic and they were GREAT as best buds. Also, it’s Aelin now so I’m pretty sure the #Doralaena ship has sunk!

EDWARD CULLEN (TWILIGHT by STEPHENIE MEYER)

The brooding vampire. *Eye roll* I personally preferred Jacob over Edward, not as a ship, but as a character. I hated some of the things Edward did and the decisions he made when it came to Bella. I get that he was protecting her, but Bella held her own and I just wished he would’ve not been so damn overprotective of her.

PEETA MELLARK (THE HUNGER GAMES by SUZANNE COLLINS)

Honestly, Peeta was only endgame because it was convenient. Both he and Katniss faced a number of obstacles together and because of that it brought them together. BUT this is not a deep-rooted kind of love and he was a bit too needy for my liking.

GALE HAWTHORNE (THE HUNGER GAMES by SUZANNE COLLINS)

Ahh, the best friend trope. PLEASE STOP! Whiny as hell, he doesn’t really DO MUCH throughout this series. Yes, he helped to look after Katniss’s family, but other than that, he doesn’t really do much. He wanted to flee while Katniss wanted to fight. Honestly, Katniss is WAY TOO GOOD for both of these guys and she doesn’t need a man to make her happy!

AUGUSTUS WATERS (THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by JOHN GREEN)

So yeah…I don’t like Augustus. Gus could be a little arrogant at times and he had a bit of an ego. Also, maybe it was Green’s writing, but I felt that he lacked depth. I just couldn’t connect with him.

ETIENNE ST. CLAIR (ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS by STEPHANIE PERKINS)Anna and The French Kiss. Lol it's "the hat"!!:

PLEASE, put down your sharp weapons and listen. While I loved AATFK, I only loved that book because of Anna’s character. She was so spunky and had a mean left hook! But I HATED Etienne. First off, the guy was in a relationship, yet he was still flirting with Anna. Second, he had many opportunities to ditch his current bae and he could’ve been with Anna sooner. Ugh, he frustrated me until no end!

PRINCE KAI (THE LUNAR CHRONICLES by MARISSA MEYER)

taratjah: Kai and Cinder for the last Lunar Chronicles ship week ^.^:

I really can’t pinpoint the reason for why I am not a fan of Kai’s but I just don’t like him. No connection whatsoever. I just can’t jump onto that bandwagon.

MILES ARCHER (UGLY LOVE by COLLEEN HOOVER)Nick Bateman with that look that could melt snow.:

GOSH, I HATE Miles with a passion. I understand that he went through some messed up sh!t, but he had NO RIGHT to treat Tate the way he did. I don’t care that he became a better person in the end, he was inconsiderate and never stopped to really look at what he was doing to Tate until she went off on him. NO MILES, NOT TODAY!

GIDEON CROSS (THE CROSSFIRE SERIES by SYLVIA DAY)Bared to You by Sylvia Day | 27 Books That Will Get You All Hot And Bothered:

AKA Christian Grey 2.0! Gideon is the definition of a MAN CHILD! He is insecure with who he is when it comes to relationships and he holds Eva back a lot. Eva is such a badass and I really think she could do better than him. I don’t know why readers swoon over him, he such a joke. I’ll take Mr.Grey over him any day and that’s saying A LOT for me!

ARSEN RADCLIFF (ARSEN by MIA ASHER)

I can’t even wrap my head around the idea that readers want Arsen to have his own sequel. He does NOT deserve a happy ending. I really just want to run him over with my car. He can’t learn to love. Nothing can change that and he deserved what he got. STOP with the Arsen sequel requests!

That’s all for this weeks TTT. I know I had a few good favorites listed, but I’m just not feeling those characters and I don’t think I can ever learn to love them. #sorrynotsorry

Let me know some of your faves that you love to hate! We can RAGE together 😂!
